The Malda Book Fair is a special event in the Malda district, especially for those who love to read different types of books and enjoy social events along with books. So, like every year, the 35th Book Fair of Malda is going to start this year 2024. The book fair will be held on Malda College grounds this year.
This 35th Book Fair and Exhibition 2024 will start on 8th January and end on 15th January. The main slogan of this book fair is “I will learn the language and write the book”. In this book fair many cultural events and competitions are going to happen, there are various events, debates, and chats. Read this article in detail to know more.
A competition has been announced for all of the poets and writers of Malda. The Malda Book Fair 2024 is hosting a special competition. If you have a passion for crafting poems or short stories, here’s your chance to shine. Simply write your creative pieces and submit them to the book fair office or Malda library. Feel free to express yourself in any language either Bengali or English and remember to keep your story should be in 2000 words, fitting neatly on a single page. For poetry enthusiasts, limit your poem to 30 lines and one page.
To participate, prepare two copies of your work, place them in an envelope along with your name and phone number, and make sure to submit them by January 5th. Previously published or awarded stories or poems will be not enrolled in the competition.
The Annual Malda Book Fair 2024 is being conducted by the Cultural Competition Sub-Committee Malda District Book Fair Committee. Some of the special members of this subcommittee are – Adhir Chakraborty, Soumendu Roy, Dr. Gaurang Debsharma, Amal Ghosh, Abdul Lahil Mamun, Ainul Hoke, and many others.

Malda Book Fair 2024: List of Cultural Events and Competitions:
Malda Book Fair 2024, 8th January: On Monday 8th January 2024, the Malda District Book Fair 2024 will be inaugurated and the Padayatra will be held with a colorful book procession. Anyone can participate in this procession. It will start at Brindavani Maidan in English Bazar City around 1 pm and end at Malda College Grounds where the Malda Book Fair 2024 is being held.
Malda Book Fair 2024, 9th January: On Tuesday 9th January 2024 some competitions will be organized in the Book Fair premises. First, there will be a quiz competition for the fifth to eighth-class students at 11 am. There should be 2 contestants in each wave. Then at 10 pm a dance competition will be organized with any rhyming song. Then at noon, an essay writing competition will be held, with a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes, not exceeding 600 words.
And everyone has already been informed about the subject of writing the essay, that is ‘Pandit Vidhusekhar Shastri’s life and his educational thought’. Then the debate meeting will be organized at 1 pm where the ninth grade and above can participate. The topic of the debate session has also been announced in advance, that is “Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a barrier to creativity according to the session”.
Malda Book Fair 2024, 10th January: On Wednesday, 10th January 2024, at the Malda Book Fair premises at 10:00 a.m. The “Poem saying” program will be organized in which the first phase will cover any rhyme for students of pre-primary level and the second phase will be for students studying in classes I to II and a half. The subject will be “Any Rhyme of Sukumar Roy Abol Tabol Poem. 2 minutes from time for each and you should submit 3 copies of the rhymes.
Also, from 10 am to 12 pm, there will be a Kathak dance for eighth, ninth, and above class students. This dance competition has a time limit of 10 minutes and is focused on Jhaptal, Ektal, and Trital for Class IX above. Then there will be a prose reading from 1 pm to 2 pm. It will be specially organized for students from class I to class IV and a half. Copies of these passages will be provided before the competition begins.
Malda Book Fair 2024, 11th January: A drawing competition will be organized on Thursday 11th January at Malda Book Fair premises at 9 am. This competition will be organized for students from class VII to XII. The time for this drawing competition will be 1 hour 30 minutes. Then Nazrul dance will be organized from 10 AM to 12 AM. Then the merit search competition will be organized at 1 pm.
Malda Book Fair 2024, 12th January: On Friday 12th January, a single Rabindra Sangeet dance will be organized at the premises of Malda Book Fair 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm. The topics are the worship stage, love stage, or any other. For this dance performance, the contestant will be accompanied by an accompanying artist or music in a Pendrive. Then at noon, any Bengali modern song will be played with harmonium and tabla.
Malda Book Fair 2024, 13th January: On Saturday 13th January 2024 at 10 am there will be a rhyming competition for third and fourth class students and at 11 am a quiz for two teams will be organized for students of class IX and above.
Malda Book Fair 2024, 14th January: A special drawing competition will be held on Sunday 14th January 2024 at 9 am. Students from pre-primary level to class IV can participate in this competition. Besides, there will be a drawing competition for fifth and sixth-class students. Then at noon, the listening writing competition will be held.
Malda Book Fair 2024 Prize Distribution Ceremony:
Prize distribution for the competitions held from 7th January to 10th January will be on 11th January at 4 pm. Prize distribution for competitions from 11th January to 13th January will be held on 14th January at 4 pm. And the prizes for the competitions held on 14th January will be distributed on 15th January at 4 pm. All these prize distribution ceremonies will be organized on book fair premises i.e. Malda College grounds. Besides, there will be special interesting cultural programs every evening.
Malda Book Fair 2024: Some special comments:
The venue for submission of names to participate in any competition is the Book Fair Office or Malda District Library. The contest may be canceled unless a maximum of 5 contestants are present. The schedule may be amended, supplemented, and modified as necessary. The authority will provide the required paper for the drawing competition. Competitors in the music category must bring their musical instruments. All competitions may be pre-selected if required. The decision of the judging panel and management committee will be final.
