Gour Express is one of the well-known trains in the people of Malda and Balurghat, South Dinajpur. It connects Sealdah station (Kolkata) to MaldaTown and Balurghat Stations (South Dinajpur). After reaching Malda town station a few additional coaches were attached with the engine of Gour Express, being run between Malda Town to Balurghat station (South Dinajpur) which started in 2004.

As the Sealdah – Balurghat Express has started its service, the railways decided that the slip coaches of Gour Express (13153/54) will be discontinued between Malda Town to Balurghat from 20/02/2024. The Existing and New Coach Composition of Gour Express is still 22.
All The Details About Sealdah – Balurghat Express:
On 01/01/2024 after a long demand from the people of South Dinajpur District and also the people of North Bengal in general, A direct daily train service between Balurghat to Sealdah has been started. This new Sealdah – Balurghat Express will start running the service from 2 Jan 2024. Honorable Union Minister of Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged it off from Balurghat through video conferencing on 1.1.2024, Monday. The regular run of this train (13189 Up/13190 Down) will commence from Sealdah on 2.1.2024 and from Balurghat w.e.f. 3.1.2023. This will be a daily service.
English Bazar is the District capital of Malda, same as Balurghat is the district capital of South Dinajpur and is also an important town in North Bengal. The new addition of the train linking Balurghat with the capital of West Bengal, Kolkata (Sealdah), will foster the socio-economic development of the North Bengal region by improving the rail connectivity further.
