A YouTuber named, Tourvashu whose channel name is “Nomadic Tour” from India recently visited South Korea and eventually he got the chance to visit one of South Korean universities. There he met with the South Korean Hindi professor who completed BA in Hindi language from that university and later did MA and PhD from JNU, Delhi. She lived in India for about 10 years and lots of times she traveled from South Korea to India.

When Tourvashu asked the professor why and where she took the education of Hindi language? she replied that in South Korea, the Hindi language demand is a very high and well-paid job and she did her MA and Ph.D. in India. She also added that India is the best place to learn the Hindi language because India is the motherland of the Hindi language.

The South Korean Hindi professor was in class 3 when she came to know about India for the first time and after she came here and liked the Hindi language. She felt totally different from what was she taught in their schools and after she came and saw that, India was totally different. That is why people are confused about India in South Korea.

Nowadays Korean people are learning the reality but the majority of Koreans are still confused about India. most Koreans use YouTube and whatever happened in India, the whole media were showing negative news about India in South Korea. Koreans are not aware of the reality of India yet.

Recently we got to know about some videos that show lots of discrimination against Indian people in South Korea. Lots of tourists are facing discrimination in South Korea. Lots of restaurants and bars did not allow Indians to get into it in South Korea.

In this response, the South Korean Hindi professor said that Koreans are not aware of the real India and its culture. They have shown lots of negative news about India through YouTube and news. The only selective negative news was broadcast in South Korea via YouTube and other media.

The South Korean Hindi professor also added in Tourvasu’s video (Nomadic Tour) when the Delhi rape incident happened in 2012 then the news became very popular in south korea but when the Indian rover landed on the moon successfully recently but it was not. Overall most of the negative news was shown to South Korean people for views and likes.

The South Korean Hindi professor also mentioned that Koreans should go to India and see the rich culture of India with their own eyes. She mentioned that Indian food is very delicious and outstanding, like masala dosha, biriyani, and panipuri all of which are favorite food items in India.

The South Korean Hindi professor also replied to the movie-related queries that every year in international film festivals Hindi movies were nominated and shown to them in their language. Because very few people know Hindi in South Korea.

While talking about Korea, she pointed out an interesting similarity between Indian and Korean people. The Gotra system for marriage is also obeyed in South Korea. She told a historical story that once a princess of Ayodhya Gotra “Heo”, came to South Korea (Khaya Dinesty) and met with King Kim Su-ryong. And later they married and had children there. So from that time Indian people and Korean people are brothers and sisters. There is a Gotra system (Family last name) also used for marriage in South Korea. But nowadays the influence of foreign countries Koreans do not follow these traditions.
