The board has changed the schedule of the madhyamik exam and the higher secondary exam of 2024. The exam will start before the scheduled time.
There is not even a month left. Madhyamik exam is going to start at the beginning of February, and the higher secondary (HS) exam will be held in the state a few days after that. Both the board exams will be completed by February. In the meantime, the new decision of the council and parliament has created pressure in the student community.
On Thursday, there was a meeting of the state administration and council parliament in Nabanna. After this meeting, the candidates of the two board exams came to know the new decision. It was informed by the concerned board that the time limit for Madhyamik exam and Higher Secondary exam is changing. Madhyamik exam will start two hours before the scheduled time. The higher secondary (HS) exam examination will start two hours and fifteen minutes before the scheduled time.
When to arrive at the center on the day of the test?
The president of the board said that the concerned board informed that instead of 11:45 am, the Madhyamik exam will start from 9:45 am. Again, the higher secondary (HS) exam will start at 9:45 AM instead of 12 PM. After almost three decades, the change in the board examination time started to cause dissatisfaction among the teachers and students.
Why this decision?
The teachers and examinees asked for a statement from the board. Among them, the President of the Council Ramanuja Gangopadhyay held a press conference on Thursday. He said this decision was taken after talking to various shareholders and an ad hoc committee. The exam time has been changed only after the instructions from the higher authorities.
Ramanujabu also said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the teachers, educational staff, and all the candidates involved in the examination. According to him, this change was necessary.
The president of the board also stated why this decision was necessary. He said, “If the exam ends early, the candidates can go home and prepare for the next exams. The teachers and non-teaching staff who are there can also return with the passbook and other documents. Arrangements will also be made to ensure that the next day’s exam preparation is proper.”
what time should the candidates reach the test center?
The board president said that the teachers and non-teaching staff associated with the examination should be at the center at 8 A.M.. on the day of the examination. The candidates will come to the exam center by half past eight. Accounts will be given at 9:55. The exam will start at 10 A.M. The exam will continue till 1 P.M. Due to this new decision, discussions have started in different quarters.
The experts are also saying that the examinees will suffer as a result of the manipulation of the upper class. Although the assurance from the Council-Parliament. Full care will be taken to ensure that the candidates do not face any difficulties.

WBBSE released the 2023-24 Madhyamik exam routine on May 19, 2023, on the official website, wbbse.wb.gov.in. The exams are scheduled to take place from February 2 to February 12, 2024.
