Upon returning to India in 1926, he was elected as a member of the Mumbai Legislative Assembly. His contributions continued as he became the inaugural Law Minister of the newly independent country. In 1990, he was posthumously honored with India’s highest accolade, the ‘Bharat Ratna.’

As we observe the Mahaparinirvan Diwas in 2023, we honor the death anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, celebrated every 6th of December in India. This day holds special significance as it commemorates the memory of Dr. Ambedkar, who, according to Buddhist followers, achieved Nirvana through his impactful works. Mahaparinirvan Day marks his departure from this world. Baba Saheb, a staunch advocate against societal evils such as untouchability, and discrimination against Dalits, women, and laborers, is widely regarded as the foundational pillar of the Indian Constitution.
