Indian Judiciary System 2025

The Indian Judiciary is like the protector of the Constitution. At the top is the Supreme Court, the most powerful part of the legal system. The Supreme Court handles matters such as resolving disputes between the central government and states, protecting fundamental rights, hearing appeals against lower court decisions, and providing advice to the President of India. There’s one Chief Justice and 33 judges in the Supreme Court.

Inside the Supreme Court, there are three types of benches: the Division Bench with two judges, the Full Bench with three or five judges, and the Constitutional Bench with seven or more judges.

Now, let’s talk about the High Court, which falls under the Supreme Court. The High Court focuses on important matters, such as ensuring that basic rights are upheld, handling civil cases involving substantial amounts of money or property, and deciding appeals from district courts. Each High Court has one Chief Judge and several judges.

Under the High Court, there are the District Court and the Session Court. The District Court handles civil matters like property and marriage, while the Session Court deals with criminal matters. The leaders of these courts are the District Judge and the Session Judge, and they have additional judges helping them.

The Metropolitan Magistrate or Judicial Magistrate works under the Session Judges, and there are different classes of magistrates. The Metropolitan Magistrate of the first or second class works under the guidance of the Metropolitan Magistrate or Judicial Magistrate.

Senior Civil Judges work under the District Judges, and Principal Junior Civil Judges work under Senior Civil Judges. Junior Civil Judges work under the Principal Junior Civil Judge.

So, this is like a map showing how the Indian judiciary system is structured, with different levels and roles working together to ensure that justice is served.
