Some people have failed miserably at some point in his/her life but they have learned from their mistakes and overcome the situations and become successful. Let’s talk about the success story of one such 12th failed IPS officer. Recently, the new movie released on 27 Oct 2023 – “12th FAIL” is based on his success story. An Auto Driver becomes an IPS Officer by hard work and perseverance. The movie had gained a lot of popularity amongst the youth of India.
Manoj Kumar Sharma is a resident of Morena in Madhya Pradesh. He was not very good at studies since childhood. Passed 10th class examination in the third division. Failed in class 12th exam in all subjects except my mother tongue Hindi. It is heard that Manoj failed the test. Due to this failure in his studies, he started driving an auto. There comes a new turn in his life. Once his auto was impounded by the transport department. Manoj approached the Sub-Divisional Ruler as soon as he got out of the impounded auto. As luck would have it, Auto was not released but learned about the UPSC exam from the Sub-Divisional Administrator.
Then he came to Gwalior and started doing small jobs. Besides making a living by driving small cars, tempos, etc., exam preparation continues. Sometimes he spent the night with beggars on the pavement, sometimes he worked as a dog groomer for a rich family in Delhi.
Once he got a job as a peon in a library. There he saw a new direction of life by reading various books. Passed the UPSC exam with AIR 121 rank in the fourth time after failing the exam thrice. Everyone knows the story after that. IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma’s friend Anurag Pathak’s book, ‘Twelfth Fail, Hara Ohi Jo Lada Nehi’ has written his life story. Recently, a movie has been made based on this book.
