India and China have not had good relations for several years. India has not done anything but if someone sends their troops to India’s border then India will not remain silent, India will do whatever it has to do for its defense.

On 13th January 2024, Bhargav Mahesh Deshpande: A class 9 student asked a question during a press meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, S Jaishanakr first congratulated the student with a smile and gave this reply.

The question that was asked by the 9th student “Do you think harsh relations between India and China will affect the all-important relation between the two countries?”

EAM S Jaishankar added more on this topic and described that several written agreements have been signed between India and China but China was the first to violate these written agreements. The main reason for these agreements was to maintain peace in both borders. But India always maintained peace on the border but China did not want that, so China violated these agreements.

S Jaishankar also said that it took 14 years after the 1962 war for Amdad to send an ambassador to China. Then it took 26 years after the 1962 war, our Prime Minister went to China, Rajiv Gandhi. 1993 and 1996 followed by 2005, 2006, 2012, and 2013 China signed written agreements with India. The main reason for this was that since India and China’s border is not mutually agreed, both countries will not bring more than the prescribed number of soldiers to their borders. If this happens, both parties will notify each other in advance.

India-China Border Agreements and Years:

AgreementYear
Border Peace and Tranquility Agreement1993
Agreement on Confidence Building Measures1996
Protocol for the Implementation of Military Confidence Building Measures2005
India-China Strategic and Cooperative Partnership for Peace and Prosperity2013

China violated the agreement in 2020. Despite the agreement, why did China deploy a large number of troops on its border on the Line of Actual Control without giving any advance notice? Then there was a standoff between soldiers of two countries in Galwan Valley and soldiers of both countries were killed in the Galwan Clash, since then Indian soldiers have still deployed on the border. At that time, despite the lockdown of COVID-19, a large number of military movements were made on our borders to oppose the Chinese conspiracy.

Since then, the soldiers of the two countries are still deployed on the border side by side. He also said that we did not start this but if the soldiers of other countries are on our border, we must always give priority to our defense.

S Jaishankar also made it clear to the Chinese counterpart that until a solution is found on the border of the two countries and the soldiers of these two countries are standing in front of each other, China should not expect that the trade between these two countries will continue normally.

He also said that If the Chinese soldiers stand against the Indian soldiers on the border then any business between India and China cannot be done parallelly.

S Jaishankar also added that who knows what is going to happen in the future. Diplomatic dialogues of both countries are in operation, and the solution to such a situation never comes in haste, a lot of patience is required, so India is still working on it.
