West Bengal Public Service Commission has given a big update for the state’s job seekers. As per the notification published on 4th December 2023, the application for WBPSC Clerkship recruitment in the state has already ended. About 8 lakh 40 thousand applicants applied online. This number is significantly higher than last time. Although the commission did not mention the vacancy in the recruitment notification, the enthusiasm among the candidates was palpable. Meanwhile, according to the sources of various daily newspapers of West Bengal, there may be around 6 thousand vacancies in this recruitment.

In such a situation, the possible date of the exam has come to light. This date is mentioned in the official notification of the Public Service Commission itself. As mentioned at the beginning of paragraph 3 of page 2 of the official notification published on 4th December, the first phase of the examination for this recruitment will be held at various examination centers in the district including Kolkata. If everything goes well the respective exam will be held by June 2024. However, this is not a final announcement. This possible date may change depending on the situation. However, since the post-Lok Sabha poll date is mentioned here, it is unlikely to change.

Note that the Clerkship Recruitment Test is conducted in two phases. The first stage preliminary exam is based on an MCQ of 100 marks, and the second stage main exam is based on analysis of 100 marks. The duration of the preliminary exam is 90 minutes, while the duration of the main exam is 60 minutes. As there is enough time in hand the candidates will prepare well.
