About the West Bengal Health Scheme
The West Bengal Health Scheme (WBHS), a health insurance program, was introduced by the West Bengal government in 2008. It offers pensioners, All India Services (AIS) officials, and state government employees a cashless medical treatment opportunity. It is a welfare program for health insurance at the state level.

Step 1: When the patient is admitted or receiving OPD care, submit the WBHS certificate to the affiliated hospital.
Step 2: Bills will be sent to the medical cell by the affiliated hospital.

What is the Swasthya Sathi Scheme?
The Swasthya Sathi Scheme is another significant health initiative in West Bengal, but it is different from the West Bengal Health Scheme Portal. While WBHS is mainly for government employees and pensioners, Swasthya Sathi is designed for a wider population. It covers:
- Families of unorganised sector workers
- Self-help group members
- ASHA and ICDS workers
- All residents of West Bengal who are not covered under any other government health scheme
The Swasthya Sathi Scheme was introduced by the Chief Minister of West Bengal in 2016 and was implemented to give West Bengal’s citizens access to cashless medical care.
The scheme’s main benefits include zero premium coverage, cashless hospitalisation, and a Rs. 5 lakh health insurance. It also covers pre-existing medical conditions and has the extra benefit of not capping the size of the family.

Swasthya Sathi Scheme Application Process:
Step 1: Log on to the Swasthya Sathi official website.
Step 2: From the drop-down menu, choose “Form B for Registration under Swasthya Sathi” after clicking on the “Apply Online” option on the top menu bar.
